Next Sunday 29th December at 6.00pm we will take to the streets to demonstrate, from the St. Agustine's Square, in València, to demand the resignation of Carlos Arturo Mazón Guixot, president of the Generalitat Valenciana. All together: Mazón resign!

Numerous entities, collectives and social movements of the Valencian Country have called this demonstration, two months after the dana disaster that caused terrible floods in many Valencian towns, with more than two hundred and thirty people dead and thousands affected, to denounce both the nefarious management of the emergency and the abandonment of the victims, as well as the deficiencies in the tasks of repairing its consequences, through inaction, incompetence and lying to the public.

From the MOC-València, we denounce the disastrous action, in the past and in the present, of all the administrations and how they have allowed the army and the Military Emergency Unit to take the lead in emergency management and victim relief, in order to socially whitewash the military, to the detriment of the civil bodies of Civil Protection, Firefighters and emergency management to which these tasks really correspond. Furthermore, the less than honourable President Mazón, twenty days after the disaster, and in an unprecedented move to try to hide his incompetence, appointed the retired military officer, General Francisco José Gan Pampols, as second vice-president of the Generalitat for Economic and Social Reconstruction. The new minister also chose a military man as his number two: Brigadier General Venancio Aguado. Leaving political management in the hands of the military is irresponsible and has had disastrous effects on our recent history.

We demand the immediate withdrawal of the military units from the areas affected by the floods and their replacement by civil protection units, providing them with the necessary resources to carry out their tasks and transferring to them those now inappropriately enjoyed by the UME.

Let's demilitarise emergencies!

Let's demilitarise society!!
